Birds find water by sight and sound, and nothing advertises it like movement. This wide ground-level dish hides a small solar fountain that lifts a soft plume of water whenever the sun is on it - no wiring, no plug, no running cost.

The sparkle and the trickle draw in birds that ignore still water, and the low dish suits ground-loving robins, dunnocks and blackbirds as well as the tit flock. The dish is around 40 cm across and shallow-sloped, so everything from a wren upwards bathes safely.

Rinse the dish and the pump filter weekly to keep the water clear. In winter, bring the pump in and keep using the dish as a standard bath.
